Summer Edition

Hello all!

Here are my favorite hair essential products for my summer hair routine. When it comes to the summer, the air is more humid, my hair gets frizzy and my hair needs some TLC. I switch my shampoos and conditioners to more moisturize based ingredients for the summer. While I switch up my routine, I make sure my hair gets the support it needs to grow with these products I have listed below.

Hair Masks

Masks, masks, masks. Masks are one of my favorite parts of my hair care routine. Put a hair mask on, a shower cap and you have a deep condition mask steamed by your body heat. I tend to go for a mask for moisturizing properties since my hair is really thick and can get dry. Some of my favorites are DevaCurl (read the review here), and  Shedavi Protein Mask (read the review here). Sometimes I leave them on overnight and rinse in the morning for a deep condition.

Clarifying Shampoo

I have tried too many shampoos. One that always remains the best clarifying is the one mother nature gave us, Apple Cider Vinegar. For this rinse, it gives you a chance to clarify and truly cleanse the scalp from the build-up of products. Women, especially black women, try so many products in their hair, which can lead to a huge blockage of the growing hair follicle. It’s important to clean your hair properly. For this rinse, dilute, dilute, and DILUTE. For one cup of water, place two to four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. The vinegar is too acidic for it to be used alone, so you must dilute it. The best vinegar is the one with the Mother, which is the purest type of apple cider vinegar you can get. You can even get a cute bottle to help with your rinse.

Denman & Scalp Massage Brush

The Denman Brush is one brush you probably have seen from many hair tutorials and wondering what is the big deal. This brush is THE BOMB. It is a great brush to detangle your curls without ruining them by brushing them out. The brush actually brings your curls together in a manageable way. A great addition to the Denman Brush is a Scalp Massage Brush. I use it in the shower to get effective use of my shampoo since my hair is really thick.

Hair Oil

Recently, I have been using a hair oil with my scalp massages. I tend to do a scalp massage 3 times a week at night. This helps moisturize my hair while encouraging my hair to grow. The hair oil I have been using recently and love are the Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Castor Oil. It is a thick oil that helps cleanse the scalp from toxins & parasites while moisturizing the hair for faster hair growth.

Hair Vitamins

Hair Vitamins is a key part of my hair routine while I am growing it back out. I use the Curls Blissful Length Liquid Vitamins. These hair vitamins are one of my favorite hair products. I used these before I did my big chop to ensure I had some hair, and I am taking them again for growing out my hair.
